To fulfil a burning desire, I've created a space for contemporary arts on the internet, based on my past work experiences:
I started working as a trainee when I was studying for la Galerie des Archives ( Erik Samakh, Gary Hill, etc…) managed by Christophe Durand Ruel (in Christies, Paris now ) and Fabienne Leclerc (director of galerie InSitu ). After working in various museums and cultural institutions as an assistant, I worked as a journalist for some art magazines and I also sold ads. As a journalist I was in charge of art exhibitions and theatre plays. Doing this, I sought to satisfy my curiosity of many trends, unknown places and transversal artistic practices.
I attended L' Ecole du Louvre and then, the international business school which allows me to understand the contemporary arts that reflect cosmopolitan tastes as well as our domestic works.
I really appreciate artists who have a link with nature ( Nils Udo, Andy Goldworthy) , architecture ( Jean-Marc Bustamante ), literature ( Henri Michaux ), instinct ( Nan Goldin , Wim Van de keybus) ) and travel ( Sophie Calle , Raymond Depardon ).
Catching my attention are works that are bound to the medium, the sensible and carnal side of it, but composition is extremely important for installations. I like volume and mastered space which gives an extraordinary dimension: the art of melting in a special environment. When art is really mixing with the artist's universe, when no one can distinguish the first intention and one can get invaded by what makes the essence of the artist.
It is similar to the sensation I had, when looking at Vincent Van Gogh self portrait , ( 1889 in Orsay museum): in his look and attitude, the artist on a blue background, his eyes, drawing us in a despair spiral, without saying much more.
Damien Hirst's works are exciting for many reasons. For example, they tell about our daily weaknesses, drugs consumption untimately, to give us the measure of our greed as consumer of sensational events. When, will be satiated by extreme? Until when do we have to go to amaze with ostentation?
As well as admiring rather “extrovert” artists like Jeff Koons, Martin Paar and Lily Van der Stokker, , I have the same dazzle for more “introvert” work of Ryman , Rothko , or Tal Coat .
My selection of artists could be surprising, because I happen to love different and contrasting things, to defend emotion and pleasure. I privilege « inhabited trend » as I am calling it.
Sharing with you my discoveries of contemporary artists (Philippe Schlienger, Ludwika Ogorzelec) and emerging ones (Teng Yi Fang TU, Vasin Srivarathanabul, Yanina Weber) is both a challenge and a pleasure. Through photography, painting, sculpture, video, installations…I wish they will be able to make you dream and grow your imagination richer.
