INDIRA TATIANA CRUZ

Desire Well

In order to locate the genesis of the art work, it is important to mention that it has been conceived for a group show, born in 2006. Indira Tatiana Cruz's installation is exhibited in a church's well surrounded by a statue of the Virgin Mary and a mirror. The video sets a mise en abyme of feminity. This simulacrum of feminity, the ‘holy' trinity Virgin-sinner-saint, shows the christian cult locked up in his own yoke.
Woman appeared as a fake sacred image. This is maybe why Indira Tatiana Cruz has chosen to create a revival of another feminine dimension bound to the source.
This feminine symbol also exist from the origins in many others cults. Celts and Antic civilizations used sources as prophylactic places, and did not hesitate to throw ex-votos in water to obtain a cure.
In this curing and fertility area stands the video of Indira Tatiana Cruz, which make it resonant. Images combined gothic low reliefs in tondo and the round shape of a bosom in laces. This installation in its shape brings an extension to the infinite circle of life. The round images reflect into the
mirror above the well, which also reflect the statue.
In order to be transcended, the art work has to find an elevating movement. Hence, interactivity happens when the spectator sees his reflection added to
the installation, carrying on the experience inside oneself.
