Drawing around
Drawing has always been an hermeneutic activity for me. Through my drawings I decipher my surroundings and in them I discover my thoughts about the world. In a way, my drawings are the thread that binds me to my milieu. Being a foreigner, Drawing Around is my attempt to both understand better and capture my experience as a resident of Kings Cross, in particular, and Sydney in general. Through these drawings – some done in the studio, some done on location in the Cross – I try to render not only the physical appearance of a controversial part of the city but also my experience of inhabiting it.
